April 2011

With the recent nuclear fallout in Japan, I recommend some or all of the following, depending on severity!!

Remember to at least keep some Powdered Kelp & Spirulina in the house for these are
inexpensive, powerful emergency solutions."

~ Wayne Gendel

BEST FOODS

GREENS
- all kinds of greens, lettuces.

MISO - fermented soybean paste (not cooked, for best results)

POTASSIUM, CALCIUM and MINERAL rich foods - greens, seaweeds, olives

HIGH IODINE FOODS

A. GREENS
- Swiss chard, turnip greens, wild garlic, onion, watercress, squash, mustard, spinach, asparagus, kale, citrus fruits, watermelon, and pineapple.

B. SEAWEEDS / SEA VEGETABLES rich in alginic acid / sodium aginate.
These are tops for chelating radioactive particles from the body. Best are kelp, arame, wakame, kombu, and hijiki.

Please Note: It is highly advised to call companies to ensure they provide a 3rd party lab report confirming iodine is present! (1)

RECOMMENDED SUPPLEMENTS

HERBS

Astragalus, Echinacea, Rosemary have all been shown to counteract radiation toxicity to some extent.

MODERATE USE FOODS

Cruciferous/Brassica
vegetables.

BEST TO USE FOODS

Eat these
2 or 3x a week in a moderate amount, as daily use in larger amounts could prevent iodine absorption.

Arugula (rocket), Broccoli, Brussels Sprouts, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Collard greens, Bok Choy, Chinese Cabbage, (Napa Cabbage), Daikon Radish, Horseradish, Kohlrabi, Maca, Radish, Rapini, Rutabaga, Turnip, Wasabi, Watercress.

FOODS TO AVOID

Avoid any alcohol, refined sugars, sweets

Avoid GMO foods wheat, potatoes, soy, corn…

EMERGENCY KITS

Here is a site that specializes in home emergency kits for nuclear radiation emergencies:

Nuclear Emergency Home Kits

EMERGENCY EXTRA SUPPLIES TO KEEP ON HAND

1. Dehydrated foods including dried fruits, such as raisins, apricots and bananas, veggie chips, nuts and seeds.

2. Store dried food in vacuum sealed thick plastic bags or glass jars with metal lids, to avoid contamination.

3. Keep on hand, and refresh every couple of months, some stored purified water that you have bottled yourself in glass.

4.  Fuel up your vehicle(s) and be ready to hit the road. Also, a long range hybrid car might be a good long term investment.

5. To keep your home or dwelling safe, store large amounts of plastic and duct tape to seal up your windows and doors.

Emergency Supplies

EMERGENCY BAG should include:
  • Emergency Radio. You can buy wind up battery free units and battery free flashlights and more.
  • Duct Tape and plastic to seal windows and doors.
  • A portable water filter bottle
  • Swiss Army Knife.
  • Cash and/or Money Orders.
  • Spare approved Fuel cans and so on.

HAVE A PLAN for you and your family. Where will you meet if you need to evacuate? Don't count on cell phones working. Have a plan of where to go, how to get there and how to survive once you get there.

WHEN TO LEAVE DODGE !?

If you sense an evacuation, especially near a big city, your best plan is to leave at the slightest warning of a pending disaster. In many cities it would be chaos if everyone left in cars at once. Families in other towns and states should make back-up plans to help each other.
